I took a one year sabbatical from Facebook. It was a good time to work through some issues that had been revealed at the beginning of 2010. It’s been a little over 4 months and I can honestly say these issues have not reappeared again. When I deleted my Facebook account, I lost two years worth of status updates…little memories and thoughts that were once captured were no longer available at my disposable. I decided to start copying my status updates once a month and post them in my blog. Maybe I’ll do something with theses thoughts before I die…so my children can see what kind of a mother, friend, Christian, etc. I was when they were little. Who knows, maybe this is an exercise in futility. At any rate, here’s my first month on Facebook. May I present to you “June 2011”.

Got my first sunburn of the year.

I have a Facebook again. Let’s see if I can exercise some self-control. (I’m not holding my breath.)

I need to schedule one day to organize all the photos on my computer. Alyson Meginniss do you want to come over (when school is finished)…so I can tackle this daunting task?

I’m convinced that I have the best job(s) in the world. 1) My husband lovingly plays with Naomi so I can work. 2) I get to work while sitting/lounging in the hammock outside. 3) Sometimes I have to work on the weekends…but it is always my fault for being too busy with other fun things during the week. 4) I get to work on a mac laptop. 5) People seem to appreciate my hard work and they often tell me so.

I have a hard time buying things for myself. My friend graciously gave me a gift card for World Market. The first four things I picked up were for other people. I carried them around the store for an hour before I found four items that I wanted. Thanks Molly Shaw Johnson for helping me learn how to shop for myself without feeling guilty.

Jesus commands us to not worry. I am doing my best to not worry about my Grandma Jeanie today. She is having some health problems and will have surgery on Thursday for a clot in her leg. I have a feeling this will not be the last surgery she will have this year.

Naomi didn’t pee in her underwear yesterday, so I get to take her to Mobius to celebrate today. Hooray for no “potty pauses” today!!!

Why does my mind race with things that I want to accomplish at 11:30pm…instead of a reasonable hour when I have the energy to get them done? And to top it off, why does my mind forget what I wanted to accomplish as soon as I have a pen and paper ready to write it down for later? My brain must be defective.

After looking through the last three years of photos, it is obvious that Aaron and I need to take more pictures together. I blame Naomi.

When I think I’m not stressed, my body proves me otherwise. I have little red bumps on my hands that look like bug bites. They don’t itch and they feel like splinters under my skin. After searching online, no one knows what it is but many people get it. The common thread…not sleeping well and stress. On a happier note, my grandma’s surgery went well and she is home sleeping. Praise the Lord.

After a 48 hour poop strike, Naomi finally decided I was right. Everyone who has pooped in the toilet today is free to join us at Mobius for a poop victory play time.

There may be a public stoning after I say this…I am really enjoying the weather this year.

I had some very difficult potty training days this week and found myself feeling very discouraged. Galatians 6:9 was my truth to stand on (“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”). Today was a dry underwear day. It was Naomi’s Father’s Day gift for Aaron.

I love listening to a gaggle of kids playing upstairs together. Their giggles make my heart happy.

(This one was from Aaron Daniel Kangas) 9 years ago today, i had the privilege of becoming married to my wonderful wife, Dana Kangas. Best decision of my life.

Aaron…People always tell me how lucky I am to have you, and all I can say is…they’re absolutely right. Happy 9th Anniversary.

For an anniversary gift request from Aaron, I’m getting my hair permed today (just like it was when we first met). Does anyone have any “product” recommendations to tame my curly hair when it’s done?

I am in the market for some good cleaning appliances (ie mops, brooms, etc). Does anyone have any good recommendations? I am also looking for some natural cleaning product recipes (vinegar, baking soda, etc).

Every time I go to the doctors office they have to leave the room to ask for a second opinion or refer to their medical books. Only to return back to the room to say, “umm…I don’t know what this is.” Does this happen to any other people? Why do I contract the most bizarre things?

Every time we watch Toy Story 3, Naomi points out Ken + Barbie and exclaims, “There’s daddy and mommy!!!” Silly girl.

Did you know the IRS will provide you with FREE groovy bongo music. Just call their 1-800# and be put on hold for at least 45 minutes (maybe longer). I think I could get a lot of things accomplished while on hold…grooving to the music everyday.

Naomi has been sleeping in her big girl bed for three weeks now. She fell out of her bed last night for the first time. I was beginning to wonder when that would happen.

I waited two years to order baskets for the toy room. They arrived today and I was really excited!!! Once I opened all six boxes, I quickly discovered they are all covered in mold. So sad right now.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Disney does well to avoid sexual porn in their cartoons but they totally drench their films with emotional/romance porn. In my opinion, I think it is just as toxic.
