I am an apple snob. I actually like some kinds, including golden delicious, fujis and galas. These I will eat every day, if I can. They’re wonderful. However, in a pinch I will actually try jonagolds, pink ladies, cameos and honeycrisps. But they aren’t my favorites, that’s for sure. And the worst part of this apple-snobbery that I am afflicted with is when I travel. Outside the Pacific Northwest, the choices get fewer (especially when I go further south). Then it seems, that the only apples available are the varieties I think are not fit for eating (but perhaps would make good projectiles if you needed to defend yourself): red delicious, granny smith and mcintosh. I won’t eat those even if they’re free. If someone offers them, I’ll just, as politely as I can, decline them.
