I came across this picture the other day. I was thoroughly and all-encompassingly entertained by it. Not just the ridiculously large hamburger (it’s bigger than his head!), but the look on his face. It’s simultaneously a look of delight, of surprise, despair, fear, excitement and I think, amusement. He wants to eat some hamburger — it’s probably one of those crazy eating contests and he’s hungry. But now that he’s actually attempting the deed, trying to stretch his jaw and holding the sheer weight of that burger, he is realizing just how big it truly is. He’s probably also realizing just how spectacularly he will fail at this attempt. Also, he’s probably thinking just how ill he’ll feel if he even gives it a good try. But hey, this is a contest, and so there are probably people chanting his name. So he can’t give up before he even starts, and he’s realizing just how ridiculous this whole situation is.
Truly, I have not captured all the subtleties his countenance is putting forth. A picture is worth a thousand words or more, but I have barely scratched the surface on this one.
