Every cheese is named for where it was first made. Swiss cheese comes from Switzerland, cheddar comes from a village in England called Cheddar, gouda comes from a region in the Netherlands known as Gouda, mozzerella comes from a place in Italy called Mozzerella. But Americans get this crappy american cheese. It’s completely lame – it’s oily, plastic-feeling, rubbery, and not that flavorful. I suppose it does melt well (but then, so does ice, right?). We should have come up with a better kind of cheese, since we knew it was going to named after us.
