No one generally likes being wrong. And most of us prefer/want to be/are obsessed about being right. I’ve come up with something to help people admit when they’re wrong: Realize they’re now right.
OK. Follow me here. If I’m wrong about issue A, and I have to fess up to it, then I’m now right about issue A. Obviously, I’m kind of a bandwagon-joiner-type at that point, but I am right. Also, I’m right about a second thing: the fact that I was wrong. So for every time I’m wrong, and I fess up to it, I’m right twice. I still come out ahead.
However, this does only work when I actually fess up. But I ask you, dear reader, could this make admitting you’re wrong easier for you?
