Cats, Dolls and Gambling

— Aaron

Bookies have books. Their very own, special kind of books, in which they right down names and how much people owe them. How did they get that name first though? Librarians have had books for longer than Bookies have had books, haven’t they? If not, the Church has had books (or at least one book, and a few copies of it) for certainly longer than organized crime and institutionalized gambling has been around, right?

So… if bookies have books, why don’t monkey’s have monks? Or barbies have barbs (I suppose that would make for a lot of unhappy little girls and parents, though)? Or why don’t kitties have kits (and what would they make with them)?
